It affects children, youth, adults and the elderly and the worse part according to WebMD, it can make you feel helpless. Among the elderly, depression can be explained because people of this age are susceptible to losses relating to health, control over themselves, environment, independence, death of a spouse and of friends. Therefore once there is a record of losses, depression risk will be on the increase. Again, people of this same age as mentioned above, must know and come to terms with the end of their own life. This is quite difficult and brings about fall into hopelessness thereby springing up depression. What exactly is depression and How do you fight it? First, depression is commonly a very serious medical ill-health (illness) which affects the way you think, how you feel and the way you act negatively. It is a mental health disorder which causes feelings of not being interested in activities that you once enjoyed. It causes sadness and can decrease your ability to do things properly at work and also at home. Invite the person to go out and engage him/her in an activity that they enjoy and this will help occupy their thoughts. Help the person to socialize. This is done by making arrangement with other people of similar age. Always prepare delicious and nutritious food for the patient Support the medical plan Watch for any sign of suicide. When a patient starts to give out his/her person belonging or say goodbye to people in an emotional way or speaks of death, it may be that he/she is thinking of suicide. With the above mentioned techniques, you sure are fighting off depression, although there are so many other ways to fight depression. Fighting your Own Depression If you think or you know that you are suffering from depression. It is possible you may not have too many people around you or those who can lend a helping hand due to their daily obligation. Do not give up and do not think those people are selfish. Instead if you force yourself to do some simple activates, your state of being depressed will improve or will prevent depression. Do the following:- Activate yourself – that is to say, make yourself active. Engage yourself in some activities that you enjoy doing, reading, sports, shows or even visiting places Engage in social life: leave your home, connect with friends, and talk with a friend or you find people to talk to. There are so many social gatherings out there that can impact your life. Care for a pet: Spend time with a pet, if you enjoy domestic animals, care for it. Learn something new: You can join a craft or art class, learn a new game, start to learn a new language Practice your sense of humor or visit social handles and get yourself engaged with some comedy skits. it help you forget some bad events. Maintain a healthy diet: Eat well, consume ripe fruit and vegetables especially those prepared without excessive condiments Do physical exercise. if you can’t conduct that yourself, find a gym instructor and visit a gym house even if you don’t seem serious about it, just go out and interact with people.
