Fact about Vulvar Disorders
The main vulvar disorders are dystrophies, tumors (cancer), birth defects, and vulvovaginitis (vulitis).
There are several disorders of the female reproductive system. Some of them are limited to a woman’s external reproductive organs, such as the vulva.
Gynecologists handle the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders related to the female reproductive organs.
Most women should do regular vulvar self-exams or have their gynecologist check for any abnormalities.
Vulvar dystrophy
Vulvar dystrophy or vulvar dystrophy (change in morphology and function) sometimes occurs in the post-menopausal period; they cause itching (itching).
The most common types are atrophic and hypertrophic dystrophy.
Atrophic dystrophy or lichen planus is manifested by a slight decrease in the vulvar region and a white discoloration of the vulvar mucosa. It can be treated with medication and its progression must be monitored.
Leukoplakia appears as one or more patches on the lining of the vulva. It is treated with surgery.
The vulva is also affected by viral processes, such as genital herpes and genital warts or venereal warts.
Vulvar tumor
Vulvar cancer occurs especially at menopause, with a history of estrogen deficiency. The vulva is red and itchy continuously.
The type and severity of these cancers vary. They often appear as dystrophic lesions, which, once detected and properly treated, preclude further treatment and are more uncertain.
Therapy may include surgery and radiation therapy. Vulvar cancer accounts for 5% of genital cancers; they are often unrecognized or hidden in older women and often precede leukoplakia, thus requiring treatment.
Other tumors, such as sarcoma and melanoma, are rare.
Congenital vulva abnormalities
Among them, it is worth mentioning congenital malformations of the urethral opening:
- The inferior ureter, where the urethral opening occurs on the underside of the vagina, and the narrow opening, where the opening of the urethra opens above the clitoris.
- Supernatural anus, which can open into the vagina or into the vulva
- The phallic clitoris in pseudo-hermaphroditic women presents with a large, thick labia resembling the
- The hymen is not perforated or the hymen is atrophied, causing amenorrhea, blood stasis in the vagina (haematocolpos).
Vulvaritis
Vulvitis is a fairly common condition that can easily lead to nutritional changes or local irritation.
- Diabetic vulvovaginitis causes itching, intense redness of the vulva, small white patches and pus discharge; the latter causes irritation in the thighs, where boils can
They were treated with diet and diabetes medications, oral estrogen therapy, and cortisone creams.
- Simple or common vulvovaginitis caused by stagnation of genital secretions in women poor hygiene; thus producing a rash (redness accompanied by discharge and itching).
Careful cleaning with an astringent in a partial millimeter solution of copper sulfate and potassium alum is required.
Viral vulvovaginitis
Viral vulvovaginitis is generally considered a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
Consider the variations:
- Condyloma acuminate
- Genital herpes
- Vulvar or trophic ulcers (esthiomene) caused by hominis simplex virus type II, sometimes associated with mouth sores of the same origin.
- Vulvar edema or anorectal syndrome, accompanied by lymphedema, was caused by a previous fourth venereal disease of Nicolas
It was created by a Bedsonia-like virus.
- Tuberculosis of the vulva or vulvar lupus is rare
- Syphilis vulvovaginitis or Luetic’s disease manifests as hard syphilis chancre, skin and mucosal lesions, later as flat warts (flat, papule-like bumps) on the outer surface of the labia majora, labia majora, perineal area, and inner
Treatment for Vulvar Disorders
The best natural treatment consists in the aoolication of cold to soothe the pain and lessen the inflammation. Washing with herbal teas prepared with thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.) or walnut leaves (Junglans regia L.) is very appropriate. However, a complete cure will require antibiotic treatment and surgery, if appropriate.
