Soy milk possesses comparable nutritional value to that of cow’s milk and this is one of the reasons it is seen as an alternative to cow’s milk. However, soya milk has several advantages such as:

  1. Soy milk does not contain casein (a milk protein that stimulates the production of cholesterol); it lacks lactose, the characteristic sugar of milk which produces digestive intolerance; finally, it contains zero cholesterol.
  2. One of the most notable advantages of soy milk is its content of isoflavones, a kind of vegetable hormone that protects against osteoporosis, arteriosclerosis, and certain types of cancer. That is why soy milk is especially beneficial for:
  • The reproductive system, due to the isoflavones, which soothe the discomforts of menopause and protect against breast and prostate cancers.
  • The heart and the arteries, as it helps control the level of cholesterol in the blood.
  • The intestine, as this drink is a good substitute for cow’s milk, if intolerance exists.
