Winter savory which is also known as satureja montana is quite a sensual medicinal plant with carminative, aphrodisiac and invigorating properties. The aroma is very strong and this plant has been known for centuries especially for its aphrodisiac and seasoning virtues.

Internal Use

  1. Essence: The normal and recommended dose is from two to five drops of the essence after meal.
  2. Make infusion with about 20 grams of satureja montana per liter of water. It is recommended to take three to four cups every day.

Summer Savory

This is one of the species of savory which has similar composition and properties like others. As one of them, it is called marjoram, oregano or satureja hortensil L. (Summer savory)

How to prepare Savory Herbal Marinade

2 Garlic cloves, sliced

21/2 cups of Red wine

1 celery stalk, chopped

3/4 cup vinegar (red wine)

I number of onion, chopped

Diced carrots (2 qty)

2 Greek Bay leaves (fresh)

2 spoonfuls of Oregano and thyme respectively

Salt

Winter savory

Let the meat marinate for about 12 hours. For use on fish, use winter savory and lemon savory.

Winter savory serves as a seasoning for raw olives. This very recipe, its method of preparation has been in practice for a long period of time in southern Spanish villages.

When olives are introduced into water for several days, the water will be changed until it turns clear and clean thereby making the olives lose their flavor which is seemingly sour.
