WHAT IS CANDIDA?
Candida may be defined simply as an infection or mycosis caused by a microscopic fungus called Candida albicans. It may be a yeast which is normally found in the mouth, on the skin or in the intestine.
According to cleaneatingmag.com, It is a microscopic fungus or yeast which lives in the gastrointestinal tract, mouth or in the vagina may not or doesn’t cause any harm at normal levels but when just an overgrown which may be caused by excess alcohol (excess intake), poor diet or somewhat an impairment with the digestive function takes place, it can foster rashes, infections by/from yeast, digestive issues, bloating, and others.
When the immune system loses its ability to protect the body from foreign bodies in terms of resistance (compromised) which may be as a result of diabetes, cancer, antibiotic treatment which may have been intense, candida fungi flourish and then produce the infection called candidiasis. It is also known as moniliasis and this will do the following:
- Affect the regions of the skin affected by fracture or moisture.
- It affects the anus, vagina, mouth etc
When this happens, diet is able to contribute in boosting the immune system and this will foster balance of the intestinal bacterial flora thereby promoting the cure of candidiasis.
Therefore, to protect the entire body system and fight against candida or stop it from overgrowing, it is highly recommended to consume foods that boost the immune system and avoid foods like excess carbs, sugar in whatsoever form, fruits high in sugar.
