JAVA TEA BENEFITS

One of the benefits of Java tea or Javan that, it is a medicinal plant that has an effective action on weight loss. I would say this plant is one of the plants for the metabolism. It is a plant which can be used to reduce both weight and cholesterol because of its energetic diuretic properties. The leaves, flowers and the stem tips are used to make medicine.

This plant came to Europeans in the nineteenth century by Dutch traders. The pleasant aroma and very many medicinal properties have made it travel to all parts of the world, it is well known in Indonesia.

The composition of this plant still unknown just that it has a good amount of potassium salts to which it plays a good role in its diuretic properties, it has a bitter component that is used to treat disorder of gall bladder dysfunction.

There is limited scientific research to support the prove that it is commonly used for treating various conditions of the kidneys, bladder and the urinary tract. There is no sufficient scientific research to support these claims.

How does Java tea work?

According to slideshare.net, its an herbal tea from orthosiphon and knowing the properties and indications will help determine how the Java tea works. Studies have shown that it contains terpenic derivatives, saponins, choline and also an essential oil.

The Java tea might help increase the loss of body water through the urine. This is where it plays the diuretic role or where it has such effect. Aside that, it can also:

  • Stop spasms
  • Reduce swelling
  • Help fight bacteria

Therefore, it is recommended for renal insufficiency, fluids retention (edema and ascites). Again, how it brings down the cholesterol level in the blood is still not known.

The Java tea also promotes emptying of bile.

Preparation and Uses

There should be an infusion with 20 – 30 grams of leaves and flowers per litree of water. Drinking one cup before every meal is recommended.

For other uses, there is insufficient evidence for the treatment of the following:-

  • High blood pressure
  • Gallstones
  • Kidney stones
  • Gout

Therefore, more evidence is needed to support the effectiveness of the Java plant for the uses above.
